Easter 2018 - String Theory
Video "String Theory": www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYAdwS5MFjQ&t=46s In the video some very important things were said about "String Theory" including… A higher theory… Before the big bang and before Genesis… Time & time machines… The law of physics is a death warrant to all intelligent life… The only way to escape is to leave the universe… We hope there is palace to start all over again… And scientists are the people humanity has chosen to put their faith in even though they rarely tell us the truth about the end of their theories as they did here… We’re going to let God tell us His version of the story and I believe He’ll give us facts for every question the scientists answer with theories & Alice in wonderland fairy tales… So “String Theory”… The bible is one story written by 40 Spirit filled authors… It was written over a period of about 1500 years by kings and fisherman and doctors and shepherds… One of the great miracles is that the bible is written without a contradiction or flaw or one thing that scientist have been able to disprove… It has actually confirmed scientific principles and archeology is constantly confirming people and places written about in the bible… This is only possible because it’s written by God and for us… 2 Timothy 3:16 16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God But what is the “one story” God is telling through the bible?… It is the story of the cross of Christ that we refer to as Easter… It doesn’t matter what chapter or verse you open to there is a thread or “string” that will lead you to the cross… The books of the bible seem to be telling different stories and as you can read the books they are all over the place affecting people in different ways… But let’s focus on the “String Theory”… at the center of each of them is a blood stained “String” that connects them all to one another… That same “String” is touching some of us and its close to touching all of us at some point in our lives… If we focus less on ourselves and how we are affected by the stories we can begin to see them all more clearly… It can still look a little crazy but we can begin to see that they are connected… Not only are they connected but once we begin to let the blood stained “String” lead us we find that the connection is straight forward and not really confusing at all… And heres the most important part… After we see the straight forward connection of the word of God we realize that “All Roads” within the word lead to the cross… It doesn’t matter where you open this book to… The blood stained “String” will lead you to the cross… In March as we looked at “Resting In Peace” we talked about “Dying Poor” and signing a “Death Certificate” and making “Funeral Arrangements” and the theme was the idea of us having to lay our lives down if we are going to take up eternal life… At Easter we’re reminded that the cross is what makes that possible… The cross brings the hope of life in another realm into reality and succeeds where all other theories fail… It’s the cross that makes the Christian more than a fanatic and the cross that separates Christianity from all other religions throughout all of time… There is only one God who comes to His creation to die for them and not only to save them from judgement but to take their judgement upon Himself… In Exodus 33:14 God says to Moses… "My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest." In Matthew 11:28-30 Jesus is speaking to a multitude and He says… 28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Every message in our “Rest In Peace” series was leading us to the cross and leading us to this Easter message… We’re going to look at Isaiah 53 and you’re going to see some of the most amazing “String Theory” in all the bible… In the “Dying Poor” message we saw Philip & an Ethiopian eunuch who was baptized and the scripture that brought them together was Isaiah 53… Acts 8:27-35 behold, a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under Candace the queen of the Ethiopians, who had charge of all her treasury, and had come to Jerusalem to worship, 28 was returning. And sitting in his chariot, he was reading Isaiah the prophet. 29 Then the Spirit said to Philip, "Go near and overtake this chariot." 30 So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, "Do you understand what you are reading?" 31 And he said, "How can I, unless someone guides me?" And he asked Philip to come up and sit with him. 32 The place in the Scripture which he read was this: "He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; And as a lamb before its shearer is silent, So He opened not His mouth. 33 In His humiliation His justice was taken away, And who will declare His generation? For His life is taken from the earth." 34 So the eunuch answered Philip and said, "I ask you, of whom does the prophet say this, of himself or of some other man?" 35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to him. The verse he’s asking Philip about is Isaiah 53:7… In the “Death Certificate” message Jesus raised many from the dead including Lazarus… and in John 11:25-26 Jesus comes straight out and tells everyone… I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26 And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. John 11:35 says… Jesus wept Jesus wept because death stole from and lied to the people that He loved so much… Isaiah 53:3 says that Jesus was… A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. and Isaiah 53:5 says… by His stripes we are healed Isaiah 53 is confirming that Jesus is who He says He is and feels what the word says He feels…) In the “Funeral Arrangements” message we saw Stephen stoned to death as he quotes Jesus when He was on the cross… Acts 7:55-60 55 But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God, 56 and said, "Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!" 57 Then they cried out with a loud voice, stopped their ears, and ran at him with one accord; 58and they cast him out of the city and stoned him. And the witnesses laid down their clothes at the feet of a young man named Saul. 59 And they stoned Stephen as he was calling on God and saying, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit." 60 Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, "Lord, do not charge them with this sin." And when he had said this, he fell asleep. On the cross Jesus said “Father forgive them for they know not what they do and Isaiah 53:12 says that Jesus… shall divide the spoil with the strong So all of these strings have been running through Isaiah 53 and Isaiah 53 is a direct path to the cross… Let’s read it… Isaiah 53:1-12 1 Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? 2 For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, And as a root out of dry ground. He has no form or comeliness; And when we see Him, There is no beauty that we should desire Him. 3 He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. 4 Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. 5But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth. 8 He was taken from prison and from judgment, And who will declare His generation? For He was cut off from the land of the living; For the transgressions of My people He was stricken. 9 And they made His grave with the wicked-- But with the rich at His death, Because He had done no violence, Nor was any deceit in His mouth. 10 Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief. When You make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, And the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in His hand. 11 He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied. By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many, For He shall bear their iniquities. 12Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, And He shall divide the spoil with the strong, Because He poured out His soul unto death, And He was numbered with the transgressors, And He bore the sin of many, And made intercession for the transgressors. So what if I told you this was written 700 years before Jesus was born?… Let’s look at the “String Theory” here… Not only is this written 700 years before Jesus was born but it is a quote from a group of people that even today have not yet spoken these words… The paper is folded over and the one who is outside of the equation has come into the world and finished a work that for many has yet to be realized… A Jewish Prophet named Isaiah is declaring the truth of who Jesus is and the Jewish people one day will realize the truth about who He is and this will be their confession… So… This confession hasn’t been made yet by the Jewish people but the real question is have you made this confession yet?… When Jesus confirmed “String Theory” and came through the worm hole He provided eternal life for all who had died before He came and for all who would die after He came… The scientists theory on worm holes is only a reality in the cross… The other scientists theory that really matters the most is that without an alternate universe all who live in this one will eventually die… God says it a little differently… He says I am triune… Father, Son and Spirit… I am both outside of this world as the Father and in it in Christ… I am outside of you but I come into you in My Spirit… He says you and this world are passing away but I will make a new world and I will make you new if you allow Me to… Revelation 21:1-5 1 Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. 2 Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away." 5 Then He who sat on the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new.” Its amazing that God offers all that we and every scientist desires but He offers it according to His wisdom and not ours… But heres the problem… How can He do all these things if He’s dead?… The future confession of the Jewish people and the current confession of all who believe in Jesus is that God came into the world as a man and He took our sins upon Himself and DIED for our sins… Unlike the scientist God’s plan doesn’t hinge on the theory of an alternate universe where we can live when this universe dies… God’s plan hinges on the RESURRECTION… I Corinthians 15:17 if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins!” It all hinges on the resurrection!… Not only do your sins need to be forgiven and the debt for them paid but Jesus also has to defeat death itself if we are going to be able to live on… 1 Corinthians 15:49-57 we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man. 50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption. 51Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed-- 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: "Death is swallowed up in victory."55 "O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?" 56 The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. So this is the truth and many people all over the world struggle with it just like people all over the world don’t really believe that scientist are going to one day say “we found the worm hole so what year would you like to go back to?”… Here’s the difference with God and His miraculous plan… He’s willing to confirm it for us… 2 Corinthians 5:5 5 Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. That triune God thing is starting to make a whole lot of sense now isn’t it… We don’t need a multiverse… We just need a Triune God… Romans 8:24-39 we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? 25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. 28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. 29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. 31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? 33 Who shall bring a charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies. 34Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written: "For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter." 37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. I want to close at the cross… I want to read through the crucifixion and focus on a part that is often overlooked or avoided but it brings everything together that we’ve been talking about this morning… Matthew 27:27-54 27 Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole garrison around Him.28 And they stripped Him and put a scarlet robe on Him. 29When they had twisted a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand. And they bowed the knee before Him and mocked Him, saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!" 30 Then they spat on Him, and took the reed and struck Him on the head.31 And when they had mocked Him, they took the robe off Him, put His own clothes on Him, and led Him away to be crucified.32 Now as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name. Him they compelled to bear His cross. 33 And when they had come to a place called Golgotha, that is to say, Place of a Skull, 34 they gave Him sour wine mingled with gall to drink. But when He had tasted it, He would not drink. 35 Then they crucified Him, and divided His garments, casting lots, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet: "They divided My garments among them, And for My clothing they cast lots." 36Sitting down, they kept watch over Him there. 37 And they put up over His head the accusation written against Him: THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS. 38 Then two robbers were crucified with Him, one on the right and another on the left. 39And those who passed by blasphemed Him, wagging their heads40 and saying, "You who destroy the temple and build it in three days, save Yourself! If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross." 41 Likewise the chief priests also, mocking with the scribes and elders, said, 42 "He saved others; Himself He cannot save. If He is the King of Israel, let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe Him. 43 He trusted in God; let Him deliver Him now if He will have Him; for He said, 'I am the Son of God.' " 44 Even the robbers who were crucified with Him reviled Him with the same thing. 45 Now from the sixth hour until the ninth hour there was darkness over all the land. 46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?" that is, "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?" 47 Some of those who stood there, when they heard that, said, "This Man is calling for Elijah!" 48 Immediately one of them ran and took a sponge, filled it with sour wine and put it on a reed, and offered it to Him to drink. 49 The rest said, "Let Him alone; let us see if Elijah will come to save Him." 50 And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. 51 Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, 52 and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; 53 and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many. 54 So when the centurion and those with him, who were guarding Jesus, saw the earthquake and the things that had happened, they feared greatly, saying, "Truly this was the Son of God!” It’s as if Isaiah 53 was written from the foot of the cross isn’t it… I just want to look at 4 Verses… 50-53… Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. This is “String Theory”… Those who had died believing in Jesus but without Him yet dying for their sins were resurrected and went walking into the city… Its as if past and present and future collided and life came bursting through death… There is no theory or equation or theologian who can explain it but somehow it confirms everything we’ve been talking about… Colossians 2:20 20 Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations Jesus is literally out of this world… Or maybe beyond it is a better way to say it… Most of us have pictured “zombies” when we read this scripture but I think they were whole and in a “semi perfected” state… I think they were like Adam and Eve who were created “fully matured” physically and at the “perfect age” never to “get old or die”… I think they were something like Jesus in His resurrected body… The point is that if heaven touches earth and if sin is met with forgiveness and if death is overcome by life there must be a resurrection… This awaits all who believe!… Right here right now God is only concerned with one thing… What decision are you going to make about the cross?… Luke 23:39-43 one of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying, "If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us." 40 But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, "Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? 41 And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong." 42 Then he said to Jesus, "Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom." 43 And Jesus said to him, "Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise. Two people brought the “Strings” TO the cross but only one went THROUGH the cross and entered into eternal life and the paradise that awaits all who call on Jesus as Lord… This man knew he would be judged but he didn’t expect to meet Jesus on the cross that day… Maybe the truth is you didn’t expect to personally come face to face with the cross while reading this… This man didn’t prepare for it and you don’t have to either… He did 3 things… 1st he acknowledged that he deserved to be judged… 2nd he acknowledged that Jesus had done nothing wrong… and 3rd he called Jesus Lord and asked Him to remember him when He entered His kingdom… If you will admit that you are a sinner and make Jesus Lord you will be resurrected and you will be with Him in paradise… and remember 2 Corinthians 5:5 He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. If you will make this confession God promises to send His Spirit to live in you as a guarantee of what’s ahead of you… Isaiah 1:18 18 "Come now, and let us reason together," Says the Lord, "Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow This is “String Theory”!!!… Let go of the scarlet red and hold to the white because this is what happens when you go “THROUGH” the cross…
