What is 20/20 Vision?
20/20 is actually not perfect Vision... It's what most of us think perfect vision is and what we once had and what we long for in our relationship with God but it isn't perfect vision... If you have 20/20 vision, you can see clearly at 20 feet what should normally be seen at that distance. Having 20/20 vision does not necessarily mean you have perfect vision. 20/20 vision only indicates the sharpness or clarity of vision at a distance. Other important vision skills, including peripheral awareness or side vision, eye coordination, depth perception, focusing ability and color vision, contribute to your overall visual ability. I want you to think about "A Plateau & A Problem"... "A Plateau & A Problem" is about focusing on your strengths & ignoring your weaknesses... We have to SEE or accept the Vision that our weaknesses show us and see them as a platform for God to continue his work in us... Philippians 1:6 He who has begun a good work in you will complete it We are going to do a "5 Point VISION Test" this morning to see if we've got 20/20... or better... or worse... John 20:20 He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. When we get up close to this scripture we see that Jesus allowing the disciples to “SEE” His wounds that they knew were fatal allowed them to have a new “VISION” for what was possible… Take a few steps back to about 20 feet and look again at John 20:19-22 “Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, “Peace be with you.” When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” First day of the week… Sunday… There was fear that they were not ashamed of… We come to church with problems that are bigger than us and that is nothing to be ashamed of… Jesus came into the midst of their Sunday gathering and brought peace into their season of fear… They still couldn’t understand how His presence meant they could have peace in their season of fear and trial and difficulty until what???… 20/20 He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord When they saw that it was Jesus and not even death could stop Him they began to believe that they could have peace… Hebrews 2:14-15 that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, 15 and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. And once you begin to SEE that there is life after death in Christ and that peace beyond the grave is possible for you there is only one thing left to do… He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” Here are some other 20/20's to consider! Exodus 20:20 20 And Moses said to the people, "Do not fear; for God has come to test you, and that His fear may be before you, so that you may not sin." 2 Chronicles 20:20 20 So they rose early in the morning and went out into the Wilderness of Tekoa; and as they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, "Hear me, O Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem: Believe in the Lord your God, and you shall be established; believe His prophets, and you shall prosper." Ezekiel 20:20 20 hallow My Sabbaths, and they will be a sign between Me and you, that you may know that I am the Lord your God. Acts 20:20 I kept back nothing that was helpful, but proclaimed it to you, and taught you publicly and from house to house Christians with 20/20 see that everything is by the grace of God… Your life… The amount of time He allowed you to live far from Him and denying Him… Every good thing you have in your life… Christians with more than 20/20 see that AND that every test He has given you is also part of His grace in your life… Can you SEE His VISION for your life yet?
